Board Member Application

Apply to be a Nebraska Main Street Board Member

Are you passionate about Nebraska's rural communities? Does your professional experience align with our mission? Consider applying to be a board member for the Nebraska Main Street Network!

Requirements

  1. Have a demonstrated interest in Main Street’s mission and goals.
  2. Willingness to commit time and resources to the program.  Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and serve on a committee or task force.
  3. Board members must be a paying partner- Friend of Main Street. ($35)
  4. Willingness to expand knowledge about Main Street through attendance at state and national trainings and conferences.
  5. Positively represent the organization.
  6. Be willing to dedicate at least 30 minutes a week to the organization and one additional hour for the board meeting.

Collective and Individual Responsibilities

  1. Establish a vision for the statewide organization with goals and objectives that foster support for Main Street and Network Member communities. 
  2. Follow the guidance and direction for the Main Street program established by the National Main Street Center | Main Street America.
  3. Advise and support the Nebraska Main Street Network executive director and staff.
  4. Fulfill the legal and financial responsibilities in the conduct of business affairs as a non-profit organization.
  5. Actively participate in specific activities of the organization that may include:
    1. fundraising
    2. membership recruitment
    3. representation on behalf of the organization at meetings and/or events
    4. attending trainings, workshops, and community events
