Weeping Water’s Meeske Hardware is well known for its expansive selection, great service, and large presence in the downtown core. As a part of the HPEP grant, Nebraska Main Street surveyed the vacant upper floor of their building at 107 W Eldora Ave. Barb Smick gave Pat Joyner (Director of Revitalization Association of Weeping Water) and Aly Ramage (Director of Nebraska Main Street) a tour and a brief history of the vacant upstairs. The space now being used as inventory storage was once apartments, an opera house, and even a roller rink.
We talked about the potential for the space, perhaps apartments or AirBNBs, and the potential challenges to be faced with redevelopment.
