Historic Window Restoration Workshop
Do you own a pre-1950 building that still has its original windows? Are they inoperable, appear to be in rough shape, have missing glazing or paint? Have you considered replacing the original windows for the “latest-and-greatest” new windows? DON’T! There’s great news: Your original windows, with a little love, will last as long as your building does. You can keep your curb appeal and still enjoy beautiful, functioning, historic windows.
But how do you repair your windows? Have you always wanted to learn how? David White, owner of Aksarben Window Works, will show you how to restore your windows, from start to finish. This presentation will explore the reasons to restore, the different types of windows, historical approaches to window layout, storm windows, how to work safely, as well as live demonstrations of the various restoration processes. Questions are highly encouraged, and attendees will learn from a window restoration expert the tools and tricks needed to maintain and restore their windows.
Nebraska Main Street is excited to announce that scholarships will be available for travel expenses for this workshop. The scholarship funds will be granted only to Main Street Communities and Individual/Business Partners. Funds are limited and will be granted based on need and the number of applicants.
