Building Information

July 18, 2025

The building on the corner, 1003 Illinois Street, has an interesting history as told by the current owner. The original building was built in the early 1890s, burning down in the 1898 fire. The current building was rebuilt in 1902, made from sandstone and brick, and housed Sidney Drug Co. until 1999. The ground floor now has a couple of different rentable tenant spaces.

The upper floors housed a variety of different offices, including a cafe, a dentist's office, an attorney, and the Chamber of Commerce until 1962. Although vacant, the upper floor is in good condition. The main concern for the upper floor is to repair the windows.

Goals for the project include window repair, brick repair, and creating offices or apartments on the upper floor. The resource packet will be used to help the owner sell the building when the time comes.

Results of the survey, as well as the resource packet, will be posted once finalized.
