Weeping Water’s Meeske Hardware is well known for its expansive selection, great service, and large presence in the downtown core. As a part of the HPEP grant, Nebraska Main Street surveyed the vacant upper floor of their building at 107 W Eldora Ave. Barb Smick gave Pat Joyner (Director of Revitalization Association of Weeping Water) and Aly Ramage (Director of Nebraska Main Street) a tour and a brief history of the vacant upstairs. The space now being used as inventory storage was once apartments, an opera house, and even a roller rink.
We talked about the potential for the space, perhaps apartments or AirBNBs, and the potential challenges to be faced with redevelopment. Results of the survey, as well as the resource packet, will be posted once finalized.
