Jenny B. Mason enjoys exploring the questions: ‘what is community?’ and ‘what makes a strong community?’. In her role in community development at the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, she coordinates and facilitates efforts to assist community leaders in strengthening their communities through investments in capacity, community facilities, infrastructure, housing, and other economic development initiatives. With a particular interest in public spaces, she asserts that the built environment is an active player in quality of life and, ultimately, a primary contributor to the development and enhancement of livable cities – big or small – that enable meaningful engagement. She seeks to simplify the perceived complexity of a situation. A devoted student of life and yoga practitioner, she enjoys the ocean, live music, reading, traveling, and conversation. She and her husband were married barefoot in paradise and have no immediate interest in rearing children.
